Queens Diamond Jubilee Thames Pageant

Today Sunday 3 June 2012 saw over a thousand boats, vessels, flotilla of tugs, steamers, pleasure cruisers, dragon boats, kayaks and ships join the Queens barge on the Thames to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee in the Thames Pageant.
The Queens Jubilee Pageant was the London highlight of the Jubilee weekend celebrating 60 years of the Queen's reign, it was one of the largest flotillas ever to assemble on the River Thames as registered by the Guinness Book of Records.
The Pageant involved vessels from the armed forces, police, rescue and other services as well as passenger boats with members of the public joining in the festivities.

There was a specially constructed boat with a belfry with 8 specially cast Jubilee bells, the chiming bells from the boat were answered by churches along the river bank and 10 musical barges to keep a party atmosphere with choirs and orchestras.

London Olympics Torch Relay 2012

The Olympic Torch arrived in The United Kingdom yesterday and today Saturday 19 May 2012 is the first day of the 70 day relay leading up to the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games on the 27 July 2012.

The count down to the London 2012 Olympic Games has now entered the last days and the anticipation is mounting, the whole world is watching and London will not disappoint.

The Olympic Torch Relay set off in Land's End in Cornwall and the first torch bearers were cheered on by crowds of Thousands, the start was actually delayed by about half an hour due to the large crowds that turned out.

The Olympic flame will continue travel on the 70 day relay and will come within 10 Miles of 95% of the people in UK, Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey, allowing everyone who wants to see and experience the unique relay first hand.
